Centrum Rubenianum vzw

Fifty Belgian and international art historians are active within this academic society, which was founded in 1959. A permanent academic staff is responsible for editing and publishing the successive volumes of the Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard.

The Centrum Rubenianum was originally called the ‘Nationaal Centrum voor de Plastische Kunsten van de 16de en de 17de eeuw’. Today, its activities focus on the publication of the Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard.

With the research it conducts for this catalogue raisonné, the Centrum helps to expand the Rubenianum’s own documentation, most notably in relation to Rubens and his close associates and followers. The Centrum also helps the Rubenianum respond to artwork inquiries, as well as organizing and contributing to exhibitions and publications in Belgium and in the international arena.

The Centrum is funded by the Rubenianum Fund and its offices are within the premises of the Rubenianum.
