Collaborative partnership between Antwerp’s art museums

Since 2004 the Rubenianum, the Rubenshuis and the Mayer van den Bergh Museum have worked within a permanent collaborative partnership.

On the basis of their collaborative partnership, these museums are recognized by the Flemish Government as a national cultural heritage institution with responsibility for collection management.

Their historical locations, combined with the special collections that they make accessible and manage and their shared expertise, the Rubenianum, the Rubenshuis and the Mayer van den Bergh Museum together illuminate a crucial period of Flemish art and culture. They serve diverse target groups, from local to international, and from amateur art lovers to professional scholars.

This collaborative framework enables the three institutions to achieve more together while each retains its unique character. The collaboration takes a variety of forms:

  • combining complementary expertise and making it available to a wide-ranging public;
  • harmonizing communication;
  • setting up joint events: the three institutions attune their exhibition, symposium and lecture programs to one another.

They do so with the support of the Flemish government.
