Opinions on art-historical subjects

The Rubenianum draws on its expertise for the benefit of museums and heritage organizations, private individuals, auction houses, and government bodies. For external questions surrounding provenance, attribution, or the iconography of artworks, the Rubenianum offers opinions on matters relating to art history. Such opinions are provided free of charge and informally, without any obligations.

Sharing expertise

The Rubenianum makes its expertise available to Belgian and international museums and heritage organizations, private individuals, auction houses and government bodies. For external questions relating to the provenance, attribution or iconography of artworks from the Southern Netherlands produced in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Rubenianum provides its opinion free of charge and informally, without any obligations. It does so within the bounds of its own expertise and capacity.

Opinions on art-historical subjects are provided in partnership between the Rubenianum, the Centrum Rubenianum vzw, and the Rubenshuis. If the subject has some bearing on one of their respective collections, the Royal Museum of fine Arts Antwerp and the Museum Mayer van den Bergh are also involved.
