Primus Inter Pares

Rubens and the Great Masters

Lecture

A lecture by Professor Koenraad Jonckheere (UGent) on 25 September 2016
Ancient sculptures, medieval miniatures, and literature: Rubens drew on all the information he could find to construct images and likenesses. In this lecture, by Professor Koenraad Jonckheere of Ghent University and the Rubenianum, we explored Rubens’s views about the face and discovered why his work provides a crucial link between Plato’s philosophy and Photoshop.

The lecture was held in Dutch.

With the support of the Inbev-Baillet Latour Fund.
